The Australian Defence Force was deployed this weekend to the South Australia / Victorian border to help barricade roads as part of the renewed coronavirus restrictions.
Officials from South Australia have implemented a “hard border” in response to the newer outbreak in Victoria as it now presents a clear threat.
ADF’s Colonel Graham Goodwin has said that 60 men and women arrived at the border and that there are 10 checkpoints along the border where ADF staff would work alongside police.
Earlier in the week, many Victorian’s made a last minute dash into South Australia and New South Wales to escape the lockdown and potential threat.
Now, Victorian residents will be turned away unless being essential travellers or abiding by very strict conditions.
All returning South Australian residents from Victoria will be required to take a coronavirus test within 24 hours of arriving back into the state, as well as re-test in the following 12 days.
