As an entrepreneur, Raphael Bender believes that marketing holds the key to success; when you understand who is your target audience and what they struggle with, you will be able to come up with an assertive solution to solve it. No wonder that nowadays Breathe Education is established as not only a reliable education centre for pilates enthusiasts, but also for providing this qualification online.
After spending a few years learning his lesson in the hardest way, investing a lot and not getting much in return, in 2020 he can say with confidence that he learned – and mastered- his lesson.
Nowadays, Breathe Education is well known and established as a quality online provider for all those interested in becoming a pilates instructor, among other courses. It took Raphael a few years to get to this point and a change in his mind-set from managing a business to educating the people who potentially will work for businesses like the one he used to own.
In the early 2000s he was running a martial arts centre and later on a pilates studio. When he realised that a lot of people taking pilates classes and a lot of the people giving them were people from the most diverse backgrounds, who were looking for a change, he understood that maybe he had an opportunity to work with the education of those interested in following this path.
That’s when he switched from running centres to focusing on the educational side of things and how they could instruct people. Because his potential customers are going through a big change, more than teaching them about the fundamentals, it’s all about mentoring and guidance.
In addition, because they are dealing with people who already have some sort of professional background and are considering pilates as a life-changing opportunity, he knew that more than providing a quality course, with teachers who act like life coaches, online and distance learning would be the way to go, suiting perfectly one of the needs of his demographic.
We’d like to thank Raphael for taking his time and sharing his story with us.
